Founded in 2005, Miss America’s Outstanding Teen, Inc. has become one of the top scholarship providers for teen girls in the United States!  All of our participants, on the local, state, and national levels, have been the recipients of valuable scholarship assistance upon graduation from high school.  In just a few short years, we have made available almost $5,000,000 in cash and in-kind scholarships.

As of September 2012, we have written scholarship checks for over $611,000 to more than 150 different colleges and universities across the country.  All of our scholarships are paid directly to the institution attended by our participants and cover tuition, books, and room and board. 13th annual power of dream gala!

Co-hosted by Always In The Club Foundation founder, Dale Godboldo, and actress Ion Overman

U.S. Dream Academy is thrilled to announce Amway as presenting sponsor of the 13th Annual Power of A Dream Gala for the 5th straight year. Since 2001, the Power of a Dream Gala has raised more than $12 million for the fight against illiteracy in this country.  This gala serves as the signature fundraiser for the children we serve in our learning centers.  We are fortunate that the U.S. Dream Academy has gained national recognition as a vigorous, effective, and persistent voice on behalf of children of prisoners and children falling behind in school. Each year we host 500 high level business men, women, politicians, and stakeholders in the Washington, D.C. area to thank them for their support of our programs.  We have had individuals like Oprah Winfrey, Chris Tucker, Taraji Henson, Angela Bassett, Wayne Brady, Dan Rather, Dr. Bernice King, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and Lou Gossett, Jr. attend and lend their support to our event and contribute to the vibrancy of our youth. We have a dedicated core of volunteers that help to make or exceed goals and expectations. As a result, the Power of a Dream Gala is one of the signature black-tie events in Washington, DC. 2014.

Join the club, and let's work together

to support our youth in education,

Starbucks and Oprah Winfrey Come Together to Create Teavana® Oprah Chai Tea
Jointly developed with Teavana’s leading teaologist, Oprah Winfrey’s chai tea blend will be available in participating Starbucks and Teavana retail stores in support of youth education

SEATTLE, March 19, 2014 –Howard Schultz, chairman, president and ceo of Starbucks (NASDAQ: SBUX), and Oprah Winfrey, global media leader and philanthropist, today announced a first-of-its-kind collaboration to co-create Teavana®Oprah Chai Tea. Beginning April 29, Teavana Oprah Chai will be sold in Starbucks and Teavana stores across the U.S. and Canada, with Starbucks making a donation for each product sold to the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy Foundation to benefit educational opportunities for youth.

Oprah Winfrey personally developed the tea with Teavana’s leading teaologist Naoko Tsunoda. The distinctive blend of tea, which features a bold infusion of cinnamon, ginger, cardamom and cloves, blended with loose-leaf black tea and rooibos, will be made available to customers in time for Mother’s Day in the U.S. and Canada in handcrafted latte and loose-leaf tea formats.

“I looove tea,” said Oprah Winfrey. “My daily tea ritual is a vital part of my morning. Savory and spicy chai, with its deep flavor, has long been a favorite of mine. When Howard Schultz offered to have me come into the Starbucks tasting room and create my very own tea blend, I thought that sounded like such a unique opportunity and fun to the tenth power. To share one of my favorite things with the rest of the world and support youth education at the same time is truly the perfect blend."

“With the introduction of Teavana Oprah Chai, we are going to elevate the tea experience in the same way we did for coffee," said Schultz. "Partnering with Oprah Winfrey in the creation of this distinctive and remarkable tea is a strong next step forward in accomplishing this objective, while also giving back in a meaningful way through the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy Foundation. I am personally humbled to work with such an inspirational leader and visionary who shares so many of our core values and beliefs. I truly believe that, together, we will set the bar for a world-class tea experience at Starbucks and Teavana.”

Contributions from sales of Teavana Oprah Chai products will go to the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy Foundation, which provides funding for the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls – South Africa and is dedicated to helping its graduates attend colleges and universities. The foundation will support additional youth education through Girls Inc., National CARES Mentoring Movement, Pathways to College and the U.S. Dream Academy. VH1 Save The Music is a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring music programs in America’s public schools, and raising awareness about the importance of music as part of each child’s complete education. The benefits of music education are astounding, and studies have consistently exposed the tremendously positive effect music education has on a child’s academic performance, sense of community, self-expression and self-esteem.But as schools across the nation increasingly face budget cuts and pressures, music is often one of the first subject areas to be cut.At VH1 Save The Music Foundation, we develop strategic partnerships with school districts to build sustainable instrumental music programs by providing grants of brand-new musical instruments to public elementary and middle schools. Our goal? To give every child in this country access to a musical instrument. Find out how you can help at www.VH1SaveTheMusic.org

Arthur Wylie Foundation'smission is help educate, provide real life industry experiences and promote aspiring entrepreneurs in the entertainment industry.

Why the Arthur Wylie Foundation was started? The Arthur Wylie Foundation believes in the “teach a person to fish” philosophy. While seeking a film production home in Michigan, Arthur Wylie discovered the once thriving sector and backbone of the American economy had been devastated with substantial losses of jobs and deteriorating workforce talent due to the decline of the automotive industry and the recession. However, educating, retraining the workforce, inspiring entrepreneurs and creating new opportunities are what have reshaped these markets with new growth opportunities globally. The automotive industry and new industries are starting to spark back and reach new heights.  Matched with our enterprising spirit, these essential elements combine to make America one of the most resilient countries in the world and the inspiration behind Arthur founding his work to give back in powerful ways across our nation.

For over 15 years, The U.S. Dream Academy is helping our nation's children reach for their dreams. Through academic, social, and values enrichment, we empower those children most at risk of incarceration to believe in themselves and to succeed.

Across the nation, there are millions of young people living in high crime and high poverty communities, who fear they may not live to be an adult. For those young people who also have a parent incarcerated, the future may be even more bleak. For these young people an absent parent, family instability, the stigma and shame of parental incarceration converges with poverty, crime and failing public schools to create a dangerous mix of risk factors that significantly increase a child's chances of school failure and future incarceration. Without an intervention this cycle will continue.

The Dream Academy is committed to stopping this vicious cycle. Through our innovative afterschool and mentoring program, currently operating in 8 cities nationwide, we are transforming children into dreamers who envision and realize their potential. Our research-based programs challenge more than 1,000 young people and engage them in active learning through one-on-one mentoring, strong academics, and technology-driven activities and curricula.

Our dream – one we invite you to embrace – is to ensure that all children, no matter their start in life, can pursue their own special dreams.  www.USDreamAcademy.org
